| Introduce | The permanent campus site of the college was approved in May 2012. It is located at No. 133 Shing Tai Road, Chai Wan, adjacent to the Chai Wan campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education. In July of the same year, the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved a loan of $670 million to build the new school building. The new school building was completed in January 2018[3] and started to be used in the second semester of the 2017/18 school year.
Before the completion of the new campus, the THEi Building adjacent to the Tsing Yi campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education was used as the main campus and is now an affiliated campus of the University. From January 2015, some departments moved to the former Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee) on Luen Fook Road, Kowloon Tong (the new campus has been moved to Tiu Keng Leng, and the original site was handed over to Hong Kong Baptist University and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for use. for the expansion of HKBU and the construction of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Pao Yuxing School). THEi Affiliated School Building is equipped with lecture halls, auditoriums, classrooms, coffee rooms, computer rooms, laboratories, basketball courts and various specialist facilities, etc. There is a student dormitory next to it (formerly the Fok Ying Tung Building, the staff dormitory of the Vocational Training Council, demolished in 2013 ), completed in 2016. THEi moved into the former School of Business and Information Building in February 2011 (the building was completed in 2003), with a 10-storey building and lifts from the 2nd to the 10th floor. The 1st and 2nd floors are the campus platforms, with lecture halls, auditoriums, student development offices, basketball courts, etc., while the 3rd to 10th floors are teaching buildings, and the coffee shop is located on the 4th floor of the building. Only the 1st, 2nd and 4th floors of the campus are connected to the Tsing Yi campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education. In September of the same year, the Chinese name of the college was changed from "Hong Kong Institute of Higher Education and Technology" to "Hong Kong Institute of Higher Education and Technology", while the English name remained unchanged. All the bachelor's degree programmes currently offered by the Academy of Sciences are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and four new four-year programmes will be added in the 2015/16 academic year, including Horticulture and Landscape Management, Public Relations and Management, Food Science and Safety, and Building Services Engineering degree programs. |
